Soil Mechanics Laboratory

GEO5- Software for Geotechnical Design and Analysis
GEO5 software is developed for the solution of various kind of geotechnical problems. GEO5 is composed of individual programs which are capable to solve both the common geotechnical engineering problems (slope stability, foundations, and retaining walls) and the other complex issues as analysis of tunnels, structural damage due to tunneling, rock slope stability analyses.

Soil Mechanics Laboratory
Soil mechanics Laboratory is convenient for the experimental applications of both undergraduate lessons, research studies of graduate students and research projects of faculty members with 196 m2 confined space. 1 room for the conservation of test samples, 2 big venue for conducting experiments and 3 different rooms for the test equipment classified based on their usage purpose.

Soil Mechanics Laboratory Equipment
Water content determination, sieve analysis, determination of consistency limits, hydrometer test, specific gravity, constant head permeability test, falling head permeability test, direct shear test, consolidation, free swelling test, standard and modified proctor test, triaxial shear test setups are available. Also there is a shaking table, capable to work in the acceleration range of -2g-+2g with 50kg payload. In order to use dynamic field experiments, accelerometers with the sensitivity up to 10-5 g, and 8 channel data acquisition system to which the accelerometers can be connected are also available in the laboratory. There is also a hydraulic jack to extrude the samples from UD sampler. Load cells, strain gauges, potentiometric sensors, can be digitized by data acquisition systems and measurements can be both recorded and read directly. In addition to static and dynamic data logger systems, there is also a 3kVa uninterruptible power supply (UPS) which can be used as an energy source for experiments in the field.
