TRANSPORTATION LABORATORY
The Transportation Laboratory is a 68 m² closed area which is mainly used for the researches of graduate students and also used by undergraduate students for the laboratory courses and also suitable for the research projects and projects taken in revolving funds. In the Transportation Laboratory, there are traditional bitumen test equipment, bituminous mixture performance evaluation devices, and equipment for the determination of aggregate properties.

Testing Equipments
In the Transportation Laboratory, traditional bitumen tests and performance tests are applied for bituminous materials and mixtures. In addition, sieve analysis is performed to determine the appropriate gradation of the bituminous mixtures prepared with different aggregate types and to determine the abrasion characteristics of the asphalt aggregate.
 

	Heating Stage Maximum 300°C temprature. It provides that bituminous materials are kept constant at the desired temperature.
	Softening Point Apparatus Softening point machine is used to determine the softening point of the bituminous materials.
	Penetrometers for Bitumen Used to determine the consistency of a bituminous sample under fi xed conditions of load, time and temperature. The penetration is expressed in distance of tenths of millimeters vertically penetrated by a standard needle.
	Sieve Set Complies with ASTM standards. It is used to determine the gradation of asphalt aggregate.
	Driying Oven 125 lt capacity, maximum 300 ° C temperature. It is used for pre-heating bituminous materials and / or aggregates.
	Los Angeles Abrasion Test Systems The Los Angeles abrasion test is widely used as an indicator of relative quality of aggregates.
	Asphalt Mixer This bench mounting Mixer is utilized for mixing samples of bituminous materials. it ensures uniform mixing.
	Asphalt Mixer Sample Heater It is used to keep the temperature of bituminous mixtures constant during production.
	Marshall Compactor Automatic Marshall compactor use to produce Marshall Specimen from hot mix asphalt.
	Marshall Sample Extruders Basic sample extruder extrudes samples from standard, modifi ed, CBR and Marshall moulds.
	Digital Marshall Stability Test Machine It is used to determine the stability and yield values of flexible pavement.
	Centrifugal Extractor It is used for separating the materials forming bituminous mixtures from each other.
	Trichloroethylene Recycling Device It is used for the separation of bituminous materials from solvents.
	Mechanical Mixer Set It is used for mixing bituminous materials with additives.
	Ductility Testing Apparatus It is used to determine the ductility of bituminous materials.
	Sieve Shaker Uses asphalt aggregates to bring them to proper grading.
	Adhesion Test Used to evaluate the global adhesion and the active adhesion between bitumen and aggregates for road surfaces realization.
	Roughness Measure Device It is used to detect defects on concrete or asphalt road surfaces.
